To pay for school, I sold charcoal, porridge, and beans- Celestine Donkor

Celestine Donkor, a gospel singer, has said that she had to sell food and other things like charcoal and porridge to pay for her schooling.

Celestine Donkor has talked about the hard times she had as a child, including how she had to sell things on the street to make money.

The gospel singer said that her parents didn't have enough money to support the whole family, so they sold things on the street. In an interview on Prime Morning on Joy Prime, Celestine said, "At one point, we had to live on our own at a very young age; you have to think about how you're going to pay your school fees."

"So, when you come back from school, you need to think of what to sell and how to raise money for the following morning. I’ve sold corn, charcoal, kookoo," she said.

"As a young girl, one of the prayers I constantly prayed and asked God was, ‘Why didn’t you bless my parents to take care of me? It was a prayer I always prayed in a deep place."

"I don’t understand why my parents are alive and I have to still be like an orphan in someone’s house. It is different when your parents are dead," she added.
