Guinness World Record: Afua Asantewaa Ghanaian Woman Breaks Record for Longest Singing Marathon

A Ghanaian woman, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, has unofficially surpassed the Guinness World Record for the longest solo singing marathon. Previously, the record was held by Sunil Waghmare of India, who sang continuously for 105 hours in 2012.

On December 24, 2023, Afua began her singing challenge, performing nonstop for over 4 days. She sang for 105 hours, matching Waghmare's benchmark. Afua is aiming to continue singing for up to 120 hours to set a new record.

During the challenge, Afua only took brief 20-minute breaks every 4 hours to rest her voice. She performed over 1,000 Ghanaian songs across different genres. Large crowds gathered at Akwaaba Village to support and rally behind her efforts.

Many prominent Ghanaian personalities attended the event, including Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, musicians Sarkodie and Shatta Wale, actors Lil Win and DKB, and athletes Asamoah Gyan and Stephen Appiah.

Afua's accomplishment has not yet been officially verified by Guinness World Records. Evidence from the marathon will be submitted for review before confirmation of a new record.

Regardless of the outcome, Afua has proven her impressive singing stamina and willpower. Her perseverance and endurance during such a grueling physical challenge have inspired many Ghanaians. She has shown what can be achieved through hard work and unity.

Now all that remains is for Guinness World Records to authenticate Afua's feat. If confirmed, she will hold the new record for the longest solo singing marathon. Her tremendous vocal effort will be recognized worldwide.
