Edmund Alexander Lanquaye Bannerman was the fourth Chief Justice of Ghana between 1970 and 1972.

He was born in Accra Ghana on 22 July 1915 to Emmanuel Edmund Bannerman an organist and choirmaster of the Wesley Methodist Church in Accra.

The National Redemption Council removed him from office in 1972 after the coup d'etat.

Edmund Alexander Lanquaye Bannerman attended the Selwyn College, University of Cambridge, England. In 1939 he was called to the bar at Lincoln's Inn and then entered private practice in Ghana.

He also worked as a senior lecturer at the Ghana School of Law from 1960 to 1964, and as a visiting lecturer at the University of Ghana from 1961 to 1963.

From 1964 to 1967, he was a High Court judge in Tanzania and a legal adviser to Ghana Police and Ghana Airways from 1967 to 1970.

Prior to his appointment as a Justice of the Supreme Court in 1971, he was a judge in 1970.

Edmund Alexander Lanquaye Bannerman died at the age of 67 in Accra in June 1983.
