Samuel Atta AKyea is a Ghanaian lawyer and politician. He is the Minister for Works and Housing and a member of the New Patriotic Party, as well as the Member of Parliament for the Akim Abuakwa South constituency.

He was born on 20 August 1962 in Kyebi in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law and Philosophy from the University of Ghana, obtained in 1989 as well as a practicing license in 1993 from the Ghana School of Law.

Samuel Atta Akyea worked as a state attorney at the Attorney General’s Department and then worked with a private law firm, Akufo-Addo Prempeh & Co in Accra. He then joined Zoe Akyea & C. in 1995 as a partner and served there for fourteen years. In 2008, he left legal practice to contest the 2008 Abuakwa South constituency election.

Samuel Atta Akyea was then elected as the parliamentarian for the Abuakwa South constituency succeeding Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after a competition against Sammy Osei of the National Democratic Congress and Nana Addo Aikins, an Independent candidate. He is only the second person apart from President Nana Akufo-Addo to have been elected as MP of that constituency in the 4th republic.

As a member of parliament, he has served on the Finance, Public Accounts Judiciary, and Appointments Committees of Parliament. He was nominated in 2017 by President Akufo-Addo as Works and Housing Minister.
