Veronica Bekoe is s Ghanaian Biological Scientist. She is also known for the invention of the Veronica Bucket.

She is a product of the Aburi Girls senior high school and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Biological Science from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology from 1968 to 1972.

Career

Veronica worked with the Ghana Health Service from 1972-to 2008 as a prime person for the National AIDS/STI Control Program at the Public Health and Reference Laboratory.

She invented the Veronica Bucket to help curb and stop the spread of diseases like Cholera, Diarrhoea, encouraging people to cultivate the habit of regular hand washing. The bucket became very popular during the start of the pandemic in 2020 as a lot of Africans used it to help fight the Coronavirus/COVID-19 as many communities in the rural areas did not have access to running water.

The First Lady of Ghana, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, awarded Veronica Bekoe for her social innovation in combating infectious diseases.

Veronica is noted for her invention of the Veronica Bucket. The bucket was invented to curb or reduce Cholera, Diarrhoea among others. In 2020 the bucket was widely used in the African continent in other to fight the global pandemic Corona Virus (COVID-19) or SARS-COV-2.
