The 30th anniversary of the prestigious and educative National Science and Maths Quiz is getting exciting as the contest go, and one of the seeded schools, Opoku Ware, the Akatakyie, whose female alliance St. Louis SHS kicked out the Zebras, Adisadel College has outwitted the Northern Zone Champions Tamale Islamic Science Secondary and Nifa SHS in a heated contest to go to the quarter finals stage.
Despite Opoku Ware coming to this school as a disappointed School in the Ashanti Regionals NSMQ, they brimmed with confidence to massacre the most aggressive and solid TISSEC of Tamale and Nifa SHS from Eastern Region.
At the end of the first round, TISSEC took a commanding lead with 21 points against Nifa SHS and OWASS who picked 12 and 11 points respectively.
The second round saw OWASS coming into the game strongly with the speed race to overturn the tie as this time around they obtained 24 points as against TISSEC 19 points and Nifa SHS 13 points. There was a controversy on the parameters set where TISSEC argued to get OWASS stripped off with 1 point but to no avail.
The excitement drew greater and greater and at the end of round 4, the gap between OWASS and TISSEC was just one point as OWASS clocked 40 whereas TISSEC getting 39 points each and Nifa SHS who was far stretched got 20 points.
At the last and final stage, thus round 5, many contemplated a win for TISSEC but Opoku Ware with the level of experience and pedigree answered three out of the 4 riddles to outclassed the Northern giant to secure a difficult win of the day with 49 points against Tamale Islamic Science Secondary( TISSEC) who took 42 points as Nifa remained dormant with 20 points.
