The controversial town in Ghana where gold rains during heavy downpour

Ghana has rich history both political, economic, social which is widely known by Asia, Europe, Antarctica, America and Australia continents. Have you bothered to ask the reason why we were formerly called Gold Coast? If certainly,the answer is no, read this.

Gold Coast was full of gold and riches that's why the Europeans were leaving their busy schedules and sailed their boats to land in the present day Ghana because of the rich mineral.

Not only were they searching for gold but even after they went out of Ghana, we have not let the sleeping dogs lie but we have continued to dig deep into river bodies for alluvial minerals, the ground both commercial gold production and the popular galamsey.

One of the smallest villages in the Atwima Mponua, Adobewora, found within the Ashanti Region, the story about how gold easily scatter on the ground when it rains heavily is no news to the local residents of this town.

Interestingly, Adobewora is a farming community with rich forest vegetation protected by the forestry commission of Ghana where mining being it small scale and illegal mining take place. Whenever it rains dogs and cats, there is unquenchable joy which fill the hearts of the inhabitants all because children, the youth and the aged will lay their hands on the precious mineral (gold).



After a heavy downpour of rain, the running water carries the eroded soil containing gold and deposit them in the debris. The people, hurriedly use broom, sticks and other materials to spread apart the soil particles deposited by the running water whiles the lucky people pick home some of the gold deposits. They can pick the bigger ones up to the size of an ear ring.

In the past, touring Adobewora and the neighbouring villages such as Aniamoa, Ntobroso, Akonfere, Mmontommoroso, Bonteso was an uphill task but today the road has been shaped though, not tarred. Electricity is common in this village. Police station, SHS ( Community Day SHS) E-block has been established by the former president John Dramani Mahama.

From Race Course, Bantama, Kejetia or Sofoline, Kwadaso going to Adobewora is just about one hour and thirty minutes. Why don't you plan a visit to this small town and witness the intriguing story yourself.
