2023 U23 AFCON Group A Ghana and host nation Morocco

On May 5, 2023, the draw for the 2023 Under-23 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) was held, and Ghana was placed in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Congo, and Guinea.

From June 24 to July 8, 2023, only athletes under the age of 23 will be eligible to compete in this tournament in Morocco.

The competition also functions as a stepping stone to the Paris Olympic Games of 2024.

Egypt, Mali, Gabon, and Nigeria will compete in the other group for a spot in the quarterfinal stages.

The competition's top three teams will qualify for the Olympics, while the fourth-placed team will face an Asian team in a runoff to determine the final Olympic berth.

The Black Meteors, who are pursuing their second Olympic Games appearance, will face a difficult test against Morocco, the group's host, as well as Congo and Guinea.

In order to qualify for the Olympics, the Black Meteors will have to produce a stellar performance.
