70% of the 5.8-kilometer Borteyman-Motorway Road project is finished

The 5.8-kilometer Borteyman-Motorway Road project is approximately 70 percent complete, and asphalt overlay is anticipated to begin in earnest this month.

The project to improve road connectivity and access to the Borteyman Sports Complex, where the 13th All Africa Games will be held next year, began in August 2022 and is anticipated to be completed by the end of this year.

When completed, the project being carried out by Oswal Investments Limited is anticipated to reduce travel time and enhance road safety in the vicinity of Ashale Botwe, School Junction, Nmai Dzorn, and Borteyman to the highway.

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr. Kwasi Amoako-Attah, was pleased with the quality of the contractor's work on the School Junction-Borteyman-Motorway Road Project when he inspected the progress of work at the site with the heads of the agencies and directors of the ministry on Wednesday.

He was impressed with the contractor's ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality."The construction period is 18 months. However, this project was completed ahead of schedule, within 12 months, and is 70 percent complete overall.

Ing. James Amoo-Gottfreid, Director of the Department of Urban Roads, echoed the sector minister's jubilation, stating, "The work is on track, the contractor is ahead of schedule, and we are pleased with the quality and progress of the work thus far."

We anticipate that the majority of the work will be completed by the end of the year, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

The project entails the construction of a 5.8km dual-lane main carriageway (43.66m lanes) with asphaltic concrete pavement surface, a 5.8km single service lane with 26m lanes and asphaltic concrete pavement surface, and the construction of walkways and cycling lanes on both sides of the road.

Others include the provision and installation of 2no traffic signals at West Trasacco and Stadium Junctions, the provision of streetlights on the entire stretch of road, the construction of 8no lay-bys along the route to support public transport, as well as other related works including drainage, road signs and markings, crash barriers, and public transport facilities.
