After Senegal, officials did not provide the promised rewards. Emmanuel Ampiah

Senegal's hosting of the 1992 Afcon tournament was a highlight for Ghanaian football.

The Black Stars performed well, placing third, with defender Emmanuel Ampiah playing a pivotal role in the team's success.

Ampiah and his companions were disappointed, despite assurances from officials that they would be rewarded for their efforts, when they did not receive the promised incentives.

"Before we departed, the government said nothing to us, but when we returned the Bank of Ghana congratulated us on a job well done and said they would give us money. However, those who received the money did not give it to us. Lotteries and other businesses also gave us money, he told Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV.

"They instructed us to meet at the stadium on a certain date, so we went there in the morning under the impression that they would divide the money with us. We waited until 4:00 p.m., at which point we were scheduled to return to Kumasi; fortunately, Kwesi Appiah's vehicle was a van, and we all piled into it and departed. They have not yet given us the money,"
