Akufo-Addo praises the Austrian government's support for Ghana.

Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer (L) and President Nana Akufo-Addo (R) jointly address the press at Jubilee House.

Ghana's president, Nana Akufo-Addo, has stated that Austria has been an excellent development partner.

Mr. Akufo-Addo received Mr. Karl Nehammer, Chancellor of the Government of the Republic of Austria, at the Jubilee House, the seat of the presidency in Accra, on April 26, 2023, during his two-day visit to Ghana.

The first Austrian Chancellor to visit Ghana is Mr. Nehammer.

President Akufo-Addo stated that "relationships between our two nations date back decades."

Recently, he remarked, "the bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two countries have strengthened."

The signing of a bilateral agreement allowing officers of the Austrian Armed Forces to attend courses at the Kofi Annan International Peace-keeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) has proved invaluable, he stated.

In addition, President Akufo-Addo stated that the establishment of 16 integrated recycling and compost plants in Ghana by the renowned Ghanaian company Jospong Ltd would not have been feasible without the assistance of the Austrian government.

Mr. Akufo-Addo noted that these and many other factors provide a solid foundation for cordial cooperation and collaboration between our two nations.

He stated, "The Ghanaian people and I greatly value the relationship and friendship between Ghana and Austria, and I hope that it will continue to grow between our two nations and peoples."
