Arrest Kennedy Agyapong and the former leader of the NPP in Fomena for corruption, says Asani Tano

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party's presidential nomination, and Kwasi Nti, the party's previous chairman in the Adansi Fomena Constituency, have both been urged for arrest by political analyst Yaw Asani Tano.

He believes that the two should be detained and charged with receiving and paying bribes, respectively.

"I'm requesting the detention of Mr. Kennedy Agyapong and Kwasi Nti, the former Adansi Fomena chairman. Kennedy Agyapong has admitted publicly that he paid Kwasi Nti a bribe of one million Ghana cedis to retire. On Tuesday, April 18, 2023, Adansi Tano made this claim while a guest on UTV's morning show. "It was a demand by the independent candidate," she said.

His appeal comes after the flagbearer candidate revealed, in a discussion with several NPP delegates, that he played a significant part in the NPP winning the majority in the 8th Parliament by giving a million cedis to Kwasi Nti, the former NPP chairman of Adansi Fomena.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, the payment was made to facilitate the chairman's resignation in response to a request made by Andrew Amoako Asiamah, an independent member of parliament representing Adansi Fomena.

Speaking on UTV, Mr. Tano, however, called Kennedy Agyapong's behaviour "undemocratic and unparliamentary," adding that the two actors should be held accountable for their conduct.
