hat make you more awake and energetic. But they also have a lot of sugar, which can make you fat and sick if you drink too many of them.

Children and teens may be more sensitive to the effects of caffeine, added sugars and low-calorie sweeteners and should avoid energy drinks. Emerging evidence links energy drink consumption with risk-seeking behaviors, poor mental health, cardiovascular impacts, and metabolic, renal, or dental disorders in kids. Caffeine may cause anxiety, sleeplessness, heart issues including irregular pulse and high blood pressure, and in rare instances seizures or cardiac arrest.

For example, dietary supplements do not have to undergo FDA approval before they are sold.
