C/R 3 fatalities and numerous injuries from two separate incidents

Tuesday, three fatalities were verified in two separate accidents at Assin Fosu and Assin Asempanaye in the Central Region.

Twelve additional victims, believed to be masons and laborers, were transported to the intensive care unit of the St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu with varying degrees of injuries.

Those with grievous wounds were referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for additional care.

The corpses of the deceased have been deposited for preservation at the same hospital morgue.

According to information gathered by Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan, the first accident occurred on the highway between Cape Coast and Kumasi.

The driver, Joseph Obeng, 36, was traveling from Cape Coast in the direction of Assin Juaso with fourteen passengers in an Isuzu Private Pickup bearing the registration number WR-456-W.

The driver who was driving too fast attempted to pass another vehicle when he reached a segment of road in Assin Fosu Township, but lost control of his vehicle, struck a metal guard mounted on the side of the road, and then somersaulted.

Upon hearing the news, the police moved promptly to the scene to clear the road for traffic and then visited the victims at the hospital to obtain firsthand information from the survivors.

A pedestrian crossing the road at Assin Asempanaye near Assin Praso was struck and injured by a Renault Tanker with registration number WR-2116-22 carrying limestone and traveling from Takoradi towards Kumasi.

The 32-year-old victim, identified as Emmanuel Obu, died instantaneously when his head was crushed.

According to the deceased's younger sibling, Stephen K. Asare, he was visiting his sick mother when the unfortunate incident occurred as soon as he exited the vehicle.

The cadaver has been transported to St. Francis Hospital pending the investigation.

The deceased's corpses have yet to be identified.

In the meantime, the authorities are requesting that residents who cannot locate their relatives present themselves at the hospital for identification.

The police have begun their investigation while the drivers are in police custody assisting with invasions.
