Dr. Ato Forson has until May 4 to submit witness testimony.

Accra, GNA, April 18 - Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the leader of the opposition in parliament, has been ordered by an Accra High Court to submit his witness statements by May 4, 2023.

Additionally, the State is anticipated to submit their disclosures by April 21.
In relation to the purchase of state ambulances, Ato Forson is currently on trial alongside other defendants. In relation to the acquisition of ambulances, they are accused to have caused financial damage.

This came after the Minority Leader asked the Court, through his attorney, for permission to file nine witness statements as he began his defense.

The Minority Leader's attorney stated that among their disclosures will be warrants of payment that listed the individuals who authorized payments.

The case management meeting is anticipated to take place following the witness's filing.

Ato Forson's attorneys claimed they were unable to confer with some of the witnesses because they were not within the court's purview when the case was called.

Seth Anemana, a former chief director of the ministry of health, and Richard Jakpa, a businessman, are two further defendants who are anticipated to call six and five witnesses, respectively.

The lack of ability for Ato Forson's witnesses to type their testimonies and scan them to him so they could be submitted caused concerns from Justice Afua Serwa Asare-Botwe.

The trial judge stated that the trial would be finished by August 31, 2023.

The defendants are on trial for allegedly wilfully causing the state to suffer a financial loss of 2.37 million euros through, among other things, a contract to acquire 200 ambulances for the Ministry of Health.
