Former PBC CEO: "You've messed up PBC, stop shifting blame."

Nana Agyenim Boateng, a former CEO of the Produce Buying Company (PBC), has refuted assertions that the previous administration is to blame for the organization's impending demise.

He claimed that the PBC was doing well before his administration left office and that it was therefore untrue for the current Deputy CEO, Vivian Boadi, to claim that the company's losses began in 2013.

On Tuesday, April 18, Mr. Boateng remarked on JoyFM's Midday News that "We [his administration] left it in a very solid state and they [current administration] have come to mess it up and it is better and prudent that they own up and then let COCOBOD help them."

The former CEO added that since 2002, it had been customary for the government and COCOBOD to provide financial support to PBC.

He said that this was the case since PBC was always the buyer of last resort ever since it entered the liability business market.

He continued by arguing that from 2013 to 2017, PBC's improvement was continuously recorded as 32 to 30.8%.

"From 2013 to 2016, when we turned over control to PBC, it routinely achieved 32 to 30.8 percent.

"In the 2016–17 season, it was 30.8%," Mr. Boateng emphasized.

Additionally, he asserted that rather than the GH700 million that Madam Boadi had told the public, the debt his administration left behind was only GH289 million.

Therefore, Mr. Boateng declared that he was prepared to discuss and offer documentation on his turning over notes to any entity that so requested.
