GA/R Amasamam receives the world's largest automotive assembly plant.

KIA automobiles are assembled at the Amassaman facility.

Today, May 2, 2023, Rana Motors Ghana Limited unveiled one of the world's largest automotive assembly plants in the Amassaman municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

Today marked the official opening of the plant that will assemble KIA automobiles in Ghana.

The unveiling of the plant is part of the Ghana Automotive Development Policy (the Auto Policy), which aims to establish assembly and manufacturing capacity in Ghana by providing the essential framework.

New passenger automobiles, sport utility vehicles, and light commercial vehicles, such as pickups, minibuses, and cargo vans are included in the initial coverage of vehicles to be assembled under the policy.

In the course of implementation, additional policy interventions will be introduced for the assembly of medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles and buses.

Ghana has categorized auto assembly into Semi-Knocked-Down (SKD), Enhanced SKD, and Completely-Knocked-Down (CKD), based on the qualifying list of local or foreign assembly, and Fully-Built Units (FBU) for policy implementation and effective regulation of incentives.
