Galamsey report Minority demands for investigations

Former Environment Minister Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng's report contains allegations that have been brought into question by the Minority.

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, who was also the former chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), has been appointed to the board of directors.

The renowned professor, who served under President Nana Akufo-Addo during his first tenure, insisted that the corruption extends to Jubilee House, the seat of government.

In a 36-page report, the renowned surgeon claimed that certain individuals prevented him and the committee he chaired from confronting the canker.

Some of these individuals, such as Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, NPP stalwart Gabby Otchere-Darko, and Presidential Staffer Lord Commey, have refuted the allegations.

The Minority, however, argues that the report demonstrates the government's profound involvement in what it describes as an organized crime against the good people of Ghana.

Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson stated this on Tuesday during a news conference in the House of Representatives.

He stated that the Caucus would instigate procedures to activate Parliament to investigate the matter, particularly with regard to all the funds the government sought approval for to combat the fungus.
