Ghana is broke, so Independence Day celebrations should be canceled: Nana Addo is informed by John Dumelo

The upcoming Independence Day celebrations in Ghana should be canceled, according to John Dumelo.

The actor claims that Ghana is broke and its citizens are struggling; as a result, the celebration’s funds and resources should be used to alleviate Ghanaians’ unbearable hardship.

When he sent a tweet to the President, the actor, who is now a politician, shared his proposal on social media.

“Hello, @NAkufoAddo, respectfully, we are in a difficult time. Could you please cancel all Independence Day celebrations in the state, region, and district? You can broadcast your usual “fellow Ghanaians” segment on television. We will save millions of cedis as a result. Many thanks,” he tweeted.

This follows the actor’s announcement that he will run again for parliamentary office in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

The Ghanaian actor announced on social media that he would run for parliamentary primaries for the NDC in the Ayawaso West Wugon. John claims that God, his family, and NDC supporters guided his decision to run.

“After extensive discussion with my God, my family, and Ayawaso West Wuogon’s party members! The second coming is here. He tweeted, “Still IDey4you.”

The actor has denied rumors that he will run for a seat in the Volta Region with this announcement. After Fred Nuamah, a close friend of his, also announced that he would be running in the NDC primaries, the rumor got more serious.

Fred Nuamah and John Dumelo, the actor who also serves as CEO of the Ghana Movie Awards, have chosen to run for office in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

On Saturday, May 13, 2023, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is expected to hold its presidential and parliamentary primaries to select parliamentary and flagbearer candidates for the 2024 elections.

John’s announcement has sparked online reactions because he gave Lydia Seyram Alahassan, his rival at the time, a tough and fierce competition. On the NPP ticket, the then-incumbent MP received 39,851 votes, while Dumelo of the NDC came in second with 37,778 votes.
