Ghana to get a Chocolate Academy soon - COCOBOD CEO

Chief Executive Officer for the Ghana Cocoa Board Hon Joseph Boahen Aidoo has hinted at a move to establish a chocolate Academy in Ghana in the offing.

He says this will help polish the skills of Ghanaians who are into cocoa processing and value addition since they lack the skillset for the job.

Hon Joseph Boahen Aidoo made this known when he was speaking at the launch of the 2023 Chocolate.

He believes that establishing a chocolate academy in the country will help boost the industry and also help in the improvement of the production of cocoa-related products.

He said “Another challenge identified in the artisanal chocolate industry is the skill sets of the industry players. I am however happy to report that we have engaged a Belgium chocolate company that will soon set up a chocolate academy to start training and polishing the skills of our chocolate makers”.

This year’s National Chocolate Week is under the theme “CONSUME COCOA, STAY HEALTHY, GROW GHANA“.

This year, COCOBOD is encouraging the people of Ghana to consume more cocoa products to help ensure a boom for the industry.

“The industry has its unique challenges which we have reiterated over the period, but one thing is certain – that increasing consumption is one of the major means of navigating our way out of the challenges.”

He continued “the National Chocolate Week celebration must be supported to not only keep the chocolate message constantly running in the minds of Ghanaians but also create avenues for those in the processing and manufacturing sectors to also showcase their various cocoa products”.
