Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak are refusing to settle the salary arrears of former General Manager Bernard Adu Gyebi, Ghana Sports Online has learnt.

Gyebi, who was appointed to the acting role in October 2022, resigned in the first week of February 2023 after he wasn’t allowed free hands to implement his ideas of transforming the club.

The former Medeama SC Business Development Manager reportedly submitted a broader action plan to reposition the 2000 CAF Champions League winners but he wasn’t allowed to implement the modern ideas.

Ghana Sports Online understands that the club is indebted to Gyebi in the region of GHS30,000.

The latest trend at the capital club is becoming alarming as former employees have to resort to using legal channels to recover their monies from the club.

Former coaches Hamza Obeng and Eric Amponsah had to run to the Ghana FA to retrieve their monies from the club with the GFA ordering the 21-time league winners to pay the two $12,000 in December 2022.

Furthermore, former Commercial Affairs Manager of the club Charles Kwarteng dragged the club to an Accra-based High Court over breach of contract.

In the suit, Kwarteng demanded his outstanding salary for the month of August 2021 as well as unpaid fuel allowance for 17 months of the 24 months that he worked with the club.

Gyebi, who announced his resignation from the club just five months into his tenure in office, was paid fully for just 1 month, a source at Hearts of Oak told Ghana Sports Online.

Meanwhile, the soft-spoken administrator failed to comment on the matter when Ghana Sports Online contacted him from his base in the United Kingdom.
