His Excellency Akufo-Addo instructs UEW to continue generating resourceful graduates.

The President of Ghana, His Excellency (H. E.) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has tasked the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) with continuing to produce graduates who are prepared to pursue opportunities and higher achievement.

In today's science-technology-led and knowledge-driven global economy, he stated that doing so through innovation and creativity would help generate prosperity for the populace.

The President spoke at the investiture and induction ceremony of Neenyi Ghartey VII, "Effutu Oma Odefe", as the second Chancellor of UEW, conducted on Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba.

H. E. Nana Akufo-Addo

"It is my expectation and hope that the University of Education, Winneba, whose core mandate is 'to produce professional educators to spearhead a new national vision of education aimed at redirecting Ghana's efforts along the path of rapid economic and social development', will continue to produce graduates who are shaped to embrace the opportunities and possibilities for higher achievements through innovation and creativity in today's science-technology-led and knowledge-based society."

The first gentleman of the land expressed confidence that the next generation would achieve the goals of the great patriots who freed Ghana from British colonial rule.

"The generation whose work will lend the words of our country's motto, freedom and justice, their full meaning. The generation that will create a new Ghanaian civilization on par with any other on earth. Therefore, let us act as beacons of grandeur," he emphasized.

H. E. Akufo-Addo assured UEW and all other universities in the country of the government's unwavering dedication and unwavering support for the accomplishment of their missions and visions.

He was thrilled to be the honored guest at the investiture and induction ceremony for Neenyi Ghartey VII.

"I am delighted to be present this afternoon at the investiture ceremony of a distinguished traditional monarch who has been appointed Chancellor of one of the finest universities in Ghana, University of Education, Winneba. Neenyi Ghartey VII is succeeding one of Ghana's most prominent sons, Alhaji Asoma Banda, as Chancellor. During Alhaji Asoma Banda's tenure, the university was designated the third-best university in Ghana and the most sustainable university in Ghana last year.

"I appreciate Alhaji Asoma Banda's contribution to the expansion of the university. New Chancellor, I am sure you are aware that you have your task cut out for you. I believe that the university could not have chosen a more deserving successor than Neenyi Ghartey VII. "His experience in ensuring a smooth transition positions him well to help propel the university to even greater heights," he noted.

The President applauded the University's administration for their outstanding selection of Neenyi Ghartey VII, a staunch advocate of academic freedom.

"Once more, Chancellor, please accept my heartfelt congratulations, and I wish you the best of luck and God's guidance as you carry out your enormous responsibilities. He said, wishing Neenyi Ghartey success in his endeavors, "Enjoy every bit of this moment; you've earned it."
