How A Pastor's Body Odour Embarrassed Me After Church - Joseph Mensah

Joseph Mensah, a gifted gospel musician and screenwriter, recalled one of the most humiliating moments of his career, which he said moulded him into the refined man he is today.

During a time when he was struggling to achieve success in life, he stated that music was his only solace, and he pursued it with every ounce of his being.

He hopped from church to church, convention centers, and other venues to perform in the hopes of meeting his destiny's ally.

After one of these occasions, he claimed a senior pastor embarrassed him with his offensive body odor.

"I recall that once, after I had ministered at church, an elder summoned me, and when I approached, he said, 'Gentleman, when you come to church, apply deodorant to your armpits and add perfume. He informed me that I smelled dreadfully."

Joseph Mensah told anchor Abena Ghana on Adom TV's The Journey that he continued attending church and ministering despite the unsolicited advice.

He claimed that this statement did not affect him because he had endured greater humiliations and lived through more difficult circumstances.

The composer stated, "I was unconcerned because it is human nature." If he had known my circumstance, he would have realized that was the least of my problems. I had body odor, but when song ministry goes awry, those same elders will summon me to the podium to save the day, so why should his remark devastate me?"

Mr. Mensah stated that in addition to his deteriorating personal hygiene, he scarcely had a roof over his head, and the one he was managing during the rainy season was a disaster.

He also slept on an empty stomach most nights in order to save money for a demo recording.

However, his efforts were successful when he encountered a music engineer who offered to help him record the majority of his songs and his debut album, bringing him to the forefront of the music industry.

Currently, he is responsible for multiple songs and possesses the copyright to the majority of scripts and sound tracks featured in Kumawood films.
