I Become Depressed Because My Hit Songs Did Not Earn Me Any Money - Gasmilla

Popular Ghanaian hiplife musician, Gasmilla has revealed that he got depressed in 2017 because he did not make any money from all the hit songs he put out.

“In 2018, I had five major hit songs, and my songs were played at weddings and parties, but no shows were booked for me. Everyone knew I was a star, but I got no money from all the songs.”

According to the "International Fisherman" singer, he became depressed in 2017 when he had back-back hit songs, but the music industry turned a blind eye to his hard work. In 2015, he claimed to have had the biggest song in Ghana but did not receive any recognition.

“In 2017, something happened to me, and I became depressed because I was living in the future. I had the biggest song ever in Ghana in 2015 and was not recognized for it, and from 2016 to 2018, I had back-to-back hit songs, but the industry acted as if they didn’t see what I was doing.”

He further revealed that he took a trip to the USA to shoot music videos for his songs to showcase his talent and for people to notice him, but it seemed the industry was not on his side.

“I actually travelled to the United States to shoot music videos to showcase my abilities and get people to look at me, but it appeared that the industry was not designed for me,” he said to the host of Café 99.5 on Asaase Radio.

Gasmilla is best known for his hit songs Aboodatoi and Telemo ft Capasta and for creating the Azonto Dance and Genre.
