I wash cars abroad for survival whenever I travel - Patapaa

When I go, I wash vehicles overseas so that I may make a living. — Patapaa
Patapaa, a well-known Ghanaian singer and performer, has stated that when he travels outside of Ghana, he works as a car washer since the money he makes there is significantly higher than the money he makes in Ghana as a music celebrity.

The host, Nana Romeo, is the one who perpetuated the urban legend that Patapaa takes menial tasks like washing cars while he is away from home.

He states that his management is dissatisfied with the amount of sleep that he gets, but his response is always the same: "I rise only to go play a programme."

He went on to remark that compared to an artiste in Ghana, people who wash cars "in America, the UK, or Germany" had it better "both in terms of money and life in general compared to an artiste in Ghana."

He bemoaned the fact that "when we see other people, we think we're bigger than they are," and he pushed them to "travel and see."

"They even become irritated when you mention music because the money that they would make in seconds is more than a week, two weeks, or a month's worth of an artiste's work here in Ghana," he claimed. The amount of money that they would make in a matter of seconds is equivalent to more than a week, two weeks, or a month's worth of work for an artist in Ghana.
