Ken Agyapong picks No.1; Bawumia picks No.10 in NPP flagbearer race balloting

In preparation for the special delegates conference that will take place on August 26, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has held voting for its candidates for the position of flagbearer.

At the conclusion of the voting, which took place in Accra today, Wednesday, July 26, 2023, Kennedy Agyapong was declared the winner of the first slot, and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen was declared the winner of the second slot.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who was the leading candidate and is currently the Vice President of Ghana, finished in tenth place.

In a related development, Kennedy Agyapong has issued a warning that he will not campaign for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) since some fans of the party keep abusing him.

If he is not selected to be the party's flagbearer, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central has stated that he will move to the United States of America. This statement was made during an interview.

"I'm telling you, if they keep going in the same direction they are, a resounding no. If things continue the way they are going, I will head back to the United States when I am defeated. You claim that you are capable of winning even without Ken Agyapong.

Allow Adomako Baafi and the rest of those men to handle the campaign on their own. Do you think I'm a naive fool to give these young men my money so that they can disrespect me? It would be nice if they stopped. In the event that they don't, then you can cross me off the list," Ken Agyapong emphasised while speaking on Home Radio.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Agyapong insists that he is ready to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the general election in 2024. However, he also makes it plain that he will not consider it a huge setback if he does not win the election to become the party's flagbearer.

He is convinced that, should the delegates choose him as their candidate, he will be in a position to provide realistic solutions to the myriad problems that Ghanaians are currently facing.
