The president hasn't been in private practice since 2000, and neither he nor his law company, Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co., have represented this Alistair Mathias or Guldrest, according to Mr. Kow Essuman in a tweet. This Mathias or Guldrest is unknown to the President. Ignore the false accusations.

Alistair Mathias, a notorious gold smuggler and self-described financial architect, has been represented by President Nana Akufo-Addo, but he has denied this.

In the four-part investigative documentary series on Aljazeera, Mr. Mathias identified President Akufo-Addo as a friend and former attorney.

The investigative piece uncovered money-laundering and gold-smuggling networks in Zimbabwe.

In the fourth part of the investigative work, Mr. Mathias, who was formerly the top gold smuggler in Ghana, claimed that throughout his time as a smuggler, he benefited from the generosity of the nation's political elite.

For instance, he stated, "I get the contract, I subcontract it to you, $100 million contract," in regards to the Ghanaian government. The government of Ghana pays me $100,000,000. You accept it from me and claim it is worth $80 million.

He explained, "In this case, Alistair and the aforementioned politician came to an agreement whereby the remaining $20 million of the exaggerated $100 million is shared.

"I'll work out a deal with them where they get 15..." I'll likely receive $5 million. I store it all in Dubai. They only need to let me know when they need it, and I will send it.

He stated, "The President of Ghana is a good friend of mine; in fact, he was my lawyer.
