Kyeiwaa Rose Akua Attaa Mensah Describes Why She Left Ghana for the United States and Why She Returned

Kyeiwaa disclosed how much she was paid for a film shoot and why she fled Ghana for the United States.

In an interview on her YouTube channel Kyeiwaa Tutugyagu TV, the seasoned Kumawood actress disclosed that she was paid only GH1,000 for acting roles.

The actress mentioned that she worked in a restaurant when she was abroad, stating that life in the United States was difficult and describing how difficult it is to obtain a job there.

Kyeiwaa, a veteran Kumawood actress, has revealed surprising information about her experiences in the Ghanaian film industry and the reasons she left Ghana for the United States.

The actress disclosed on her YouTube channel, Kyeiwaa Tutugyagu TV, that she was only paid GH1,000 for her movie roles, shedding light on the industry's inadequate compensation structure that has plagued it for years.

Kyeiwaa, who has appeared in multiple Kumawood films, spoke out against the terrible treatment of actors and actresses in the Ghanaian film industry, sharing her personal experience. She also described how the lack of support and structure prompted her to abandon Ghana for the United States, where she worked in a restaurant. At one point during her time in the United States, the actress sold banku for a livelihood.

The actress described how difficult it was to find work in America and praised YouTube for providing a platform that has liberated actors and actresses from the negative structures of the Ghanaian film industry. The actress is presently filming her own films in her native Ghana. She encouraged admirers to stay tuned for additional content from her.
