Pastors Participate Actively In Galamsey - Dennis Miracles Reveals

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, director of Local Government Services at the Office of the President, asserts that those involved in galamsey (illegal mining) include not only politicians but also religious and traditional leaders.

Dennis Miracles, speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' morning program, revealed how difficult it is to combat illegal mining, comparing it to the cocaine trade in Mexico and Colombia.

"It requires many years of hard work, many years of dedication, many years of education, and many years of attempting to change the attitudes of the people in this area; without these things, no matter how hard we fight in Galamsey, we will not succeed." He attempted to disabuse Ghanaians of the notion that the kingpins behind galamsey are only political figures or government officials.

According to him, "pastors and chiefs are involved" in this blight, and he went on to describe an incident in which chiefs prayed for galamseyers to use their property.

"Galamsey is like drugs," he said, emphasizing the large number of individuals involved.

"How do you combat this if you do not employ mind shift change?" he inquired.
