Reverend Goil Coo Alex Josiah Adzew was placed to rest.

Rev. Alex Josiah Adzew, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of GOIL Plc, was laid to rest in a private ceremony at Accra's Gethsemane Memorial Garden. Thursday, April 20, 2023, a memorial service was conducted in the forecourt of the State House.

Reverend Alex Josiah Adzew was born in Tarkwa on June 20, 1966. In 1978, he took the Common Entrance Exam and was admitted to Accra Academy to pursue his 'O' and 'A' levels in science, where he excelled. He studied Mechanical Engineering at what is now Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

He joined GOIL's Takoradi Zonal Office as a sales engineer. In 2016, he became the first Chief Operating Officer of GOIL PLC, a position he held until his death.

His family, coworkers, and acquaintances described him as a devout Christian who put forth his best effort in all of his endeavors. According to his wife and daughter, their beloved was always generous and never satisfied with less.

In a sermon, Rev. Dr. George Boachie-Darquah encouraged the family to find comfort in God's word, which states that those who perish in the Lord will be blessed.

In a tribute, the Group CEO and Managing Director of GOIL Plc, Hon. Kwame Osei Prempeh, stated that the late Rev. Alex Adzew was a pillar upon which he relied and a pivot around which the entire enterprise revolved.

In a tribute, the Petroleum Commission, NPA Former Group CEO and MD, the CEO of Tema Lube Oil Company Limited, and Dealers of GOIL Retail service stations, among others, recalled his outstanding leadership abilities.

Reverend Alex Josiah Adzew passed away in the United States on March 13, 2023, at the age of 57, following a brief illness. He leaves behind his parents, a fiancée, and a daughter.

On Sunday, April 23, 2023, a memorial service was conducted for him at the Flames of Glory Chapel in Ablekuma Fan Milk.

The second lady of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Samira Bawumia, Board Chairman of GOIL, Mr. Gaddy Laryea, and his board members, management and staff of GOIL, retired Board members and MDs of GOIL, government officials, MPs, and the congregation of Flames of Glory Chapel, Ablekuma Fan Milk, were present to mourn with the families of Mr. Adzew at the forecourt of the state house.
