Taxi drivers clash with soldiers at the Atonsu-Asokwa Unity oil terminal in Kumasi, Ashanti, according to a program monitored by the OTEC FM morning show (Nyansapo).
Two months prior to relocating to Dompoase Kyirapatere, the ADHOC committee established by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) engaged the Asokwa chauffeurs association, according to a report. The new terminal at the Unity Oil terminal was designed specifically for transport drivers.
Taxis transporting passengers to the following cities (Gyakye, Pramso, Aputuogya, and Bekwai) were notified and approved by the Taxi Association and the ADHOC committee, according to the association's chairman, Samuel Donkor.
According to the report, no drivers were present at the new Kyirapatere taxi terminal as of 10 a.m. Afriyie noted in the report by Michael Owusu that the new terminal is much quieter than the Unity Oil terminal. According to the reporter, no one has been injured or killed thus far.
