Students from Atta Mills Ekumfi TI Ahmadiyya SHS leave their dorms after the ECG is disconnected.

The Electricity Company of Ghana cut off the power to the John Evans Atta Mills Senior High School and Ekumfi TI Ahmadiyya Senior High School in the Ekumfi District in the Central Region due to a long-standing deficit.

According to reports, some boarding students at the hostel facilities, particularly female students, were forced to leave their dorm rooms and spend the night with their fellow students in the city.

Due to the fact that both schools are hidden away in a bush on the outskirts of the town, some students who spoke to Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan expressed concern for their safety.

As the school has been plunged into darkness, students at Ekumfi TI Alhamadija SHS in Ekumfi Ekrowfo are frightened that armed robbers who occasionally lurk in the bush around the school to attack people may shift their attention on them.

They describe how armed robbers recently targeted a driver close to the school.

The lack of light has made learning challenging for pupils, particularly for those in their final year who are gearing up to take their external exams in three months.

The pupils express sorrow for coming to class during the outage in an interview with Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan, and they intend to leave and come back when the power is restored.

Near the town's edge lies the Atta Mills Community Day Senior High School.

All of the students are pleading with the Ekumfi District Assembly's District Chief Executive, Hon. Ebenezer Monney, and the Member of Parliament for the Ekumfi Constituency, Hon. Abeiku Crentsil, to help them restore power to the schools.

Some senior high schools in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District had their power withdrawn as part of a similar ECG procedure because the power company was in arrears.
