Tangoba Abayage addressing the Friends of Bawumia group in Chiana Paga: Give us a break

Friends of Bawumia (FOB), a youth organization in the Upper East Region's Chiana-Paga constituency, has threatened to pull its members out of the NPP if vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is not chosen as the party's standard bearer for the 2024 elections.

The group, which has 600 registered members, feels that the Vice President is the only contender who can support the party's goal of breaking the eight-year electoral cycle.

Desmond Abire Ayambire, the group's leader, told our reporter that some of the members were constituency executives and had put much effort into realizing that Dr. Bawumia was the only person who could aid the party in winning the next 2024 elections.

"While we don't rule out the possibility of the other candidates representing the party, we believe that Dr. Bawumia is the most qualified to guide us to the promised land. We are not sitting down to say this because the majority of us are CEOs and we have done our research and determined that he is the best candidate for the party.

However, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's ardent supporter and former Upper East Regional Minister Tangoba Abayage is not pleased with the group's idea. She said that votes, not threats, will determine the Vice President's victory in the upcoming election.

Madam Abayage questioned whether the aforementioned members of the group were already attempting to leave the party in a post in response to the news reported by this website.

"Were they attempting to exit the party already? I'm a fervent admirer of Bawumia and a devoted BMW fan. But especially from us in the Upper East Region, we must stop this attitude of coercing the party at will.

"We as a people and a party find this attitude of casually threatening to leave the party if our demands are not met to be wholly deceitful. See where we are now with this: I'm leaving, I'm not voting, and I'm bringing trouble."

Where in Ghana have they heard any group threaten to abandon the party if Bawumia isn't named the flag bearer since the BMW, FOB, LLFB, etc. started? Or do they believe they have the strongest commitment to the program? They should kindly take a vacation from us and focus their efforts on securing the most votes possible for DMB in the Chiana-Paga Constituency.
