The Ghanaian has lost his sense of nationalism and patriotism under Akufo-Addo's NPP - Former Ambassador

The clergy, chiefs, and civil society organizations that are not criticizing the current poor governance meted out to Ghanaians by the Akufo-Addo administration have been diagnosed as having lost their nationalistic and patriotic will to speak truth to power.

They have been accused of being complicit in the deterioration of the nation, due to the fact that their government may be in power.

Daniel Ohene Agyekum, a former Ghanaian ambassador to the United States and current member of the NDC Council of Elders, held these views.

He notes that not too long ago, these people were all over the country voicing their opposition to President John Mahama when he was in office, despite the fact that he did nothing to address the corruption and poor governance Ghanaians were forced to endure.

"Is this the same Ghana as the one where John Mahama was president? Why have the large churches and their leaders become silent? Where are the great chiefs and monarchs, where are all the Christians and Muslims? Everyone appears to be quiet at this time. He inquired.

"Therefore, people are no longer patriotic; their nationalistic sensibilities have abruptly evaporated, or Ghanaians have lost their mojo; they no longer have the energy to discuss all of the wrongs. We are observing and merely praying for a lengthy life in order to determine what will occur.

"I believe that under this NPP and Nana Addo, Ghanaian patriotism and nationalism have declined. Some of us will continue to speak until the day of our deaths. Never before in my life have I witnessed pensioners picketing and demonstrating; this is a first for me. Even in our elderly age, this government seeks to frustrate us, which is unjust," he bemoaned.
