The Sakyikrom Royals are Angry with the IGP over the Installation of a Fake Chief.

The Ayoko Royal family of Sakyikrom in the Nsawam/Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region has requested that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, refrain from involving himself in any Chieftaincy-related matters at Sakyikrom.

According to the family, the IGP supports the installation of the Regent of Sakyikrom, Nana Osae Duodu, who has pledged to uphold the customs and traditions of the Ayoko Royal Family.

Nana Osae Duodu signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2011 that allowed him to serve as the Regent of Sakyikrom for only five years, after which he was required to vacate the throne because he is a member of the royal lineage of fathers.

At a press conference held at Sakyikrom on Tuesday, the Acting Kyidomhene of Sakyikrom, Nana Kwaku Atope Atiemo, expressed concern that if the concerns of the youth are not addressed immediately, the youth's anger could devolve into chaos if the Ama Tawia gate decides to forcibly occupy the palace without following the proper customary procedures.

He accused the self-styled chief who was the Regent Chief of Sakyikrom at the time, Nana Osae Duodu, for the recent chieftaincy dispute, despite the fact that he is not qualified to be the legitimate chief of Sakyikrom.

He asserted that he has the support of the IGP and that, with police protection, he will assist the Ama Tawia gate in occupying the palace.

The Mmerantehene of Sakyikrom, Nana Akonnor Takyi Ako, also claimed that one 'Toroo' from the Ama Tawia gate is displaying photographs of him as a result of the ongoing chieftaincy dispute between Buafi and the Ama Tawia gate, which is still pending in the High Court.

The Mmerantehene also accused 'Toroo' of leaning on the shoulders of the Nsawam Adoagyiri District Assembly Security Council in order to employ unorthodox and illegal means to resolve their differences.

He implored the IGP to take a keen interest in the activities of the accused person 'Toroo' and to take the necessary action against him because his actions are antithetical to the Ayoko traditions and customs and will harm the Ghana Police Service's sterling reputation.

However, when asked about his reaction to the incident, Nana Osae Duodu declined to comment.
