The manager of Obrafour responds to Mantse's claims that the sound sample used by Drake in "Killer Cut" off of Oye Ohene is his

The manager of Obrafour, Wei Ye Oteng, has responded to Chale Wote's Mantse Aryeequaye's counterclaim about ownership of the well-known "Killer Cut" sound, which was purportedly sampled by Drake.

Mantse claimed that he was the original voice behind the "killer cut" sound that Drake sampled from Obrafuor's "Oye Ohene" song in a series of tweets posted on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.

Mantse asserts that Obrafuor has no right to claim ownership of the sound because it is his.

Greetings, @RobertFreundLaw. The "KILLER CUT" sound, precisely, that @Drake sampled in the song "Calling My Name," is Mantse Aryeequaye's intellectual property, not @iamobrafour's.

Dear @Drake, I, Mantse Aryeequaye, own the intellectual property, more precisely the "KILLER CUT" sound that was sampled in your song "Calling My Name," not @IamObrafuo, Mantse tweeted.

Mantse continues, "intellectual property rights and claim over all my artistic works, including the "Killer Cut" sound you sampled off of the "Oye Ohene" remix used on Obrafuor's album."

Mantse tweeted Drake, "Lawyer Kofi Bentil esq. of Lex Praxis Incorporated [email protected] who is pursuing this matter has informed me of a lawsuit against you solely in the name of @IamObrafuor," in reference to Drake.

By means of tweets, he further affirms that "I [Mantse Aryeequaye] insist that although @IamObrafuor has interest in the topic, he is not the owner of the right, and he cannot assert it, certainly not alone, or make any demands for exclusive compensation for its use.

“Drake I strongly declare that I am the owner of the right, and I kindly ask that you contact my attorney Kofi Bentil at [email protected] before you take any action regarding requests for payment for using Mantse Aryeequaye's intellectual property. You've been informed, Mantse continued.

The manager of Obrafour quickly responded on his social media accounts to Mantse's comments by saying that talk is cheap.

He continued by saying that everything had been taken care of and that Mantse should approach any potential claims to the sound's intellectual property through the proper channels rather than writing on social media.
