This is obviously a mental health issue - Analyst on Adum Inspector who murdered his girlfriend

The Executive Director of the African Center for Security and Counterterrorism, Emmanuel Mawanye Kotin, asserts that the Ghana Police Service is under duress, resulting in instances of officer misconduct.

He stated that the Service is intended to transform officers, but it appears the administration led by Dampare has abandoned the transformational agenda.

Mr. Kotin was discussing the alleged assassination of Victoria Dapaah, also known as Maadwoa, by an officer on Thursday night.

She was shot multiple times by her alleged lover, Ashanti Regional Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, stationed at Manhyia.

"This is clearly a mental health issue," Mr. Kotin told TV3's Midday Live host Martin Asiedu-Dartey on Tuesday, April 25.

Due to operational deficiencies, he stated that officers' mental fortitude is diminishing day by day.

The Security Analyst asserted that the current Inspector-General of Police (IGP) began his tenure on a positive note, but "now he has gone to sleep, and I suspect there is a group in the police administration known as the Dampare Boys," he said.

On Tuesday, April 25, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi appeared in court for the first time since his detention over the weekend.

He stated to the Asokore Mampong District Court that he had no intention of committing the offense.

"What happened is between me and God," Inspector Twumasi stated in open court.

On May 30 he is scheduled to reappear in court.
