Two Attorneys Willing to Provide Prof. Frimpong-Boateng with Free Legal Services

Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng has been promised free legal representation by private attorney Oliver Barker-Vormawor in response to the defamation suit filed against him by attorney Gabby Otchere-Darko.

According to him, the former environment minister and chair of the inter-ministerial committee on illegal mining, who was also a former heart surgeon, saved the life of his sibling.

The attorney stated in a Facebook post that his sibling was a hole in his heart and that the renowned heart surgeon saved his life.

Private attorney Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has filed a defamation lawsuit against Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, the former minister of environment, science, technology, and innovation, for allegedly defamatory statements made about him.

The attorney is seeking ten million Ghana cedis in general damages, including punitive and/or exemplary damages.

In addition, he demands an apology and a retraction of Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng's (defendant) statements about his person.

The plaintiff also requests a permanent injunction prohibiting Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, his servants, agents, or assigns from repeating similar or additional defamatory statements against him.

In response to the lawsuit, attorney Barker-Vormawor stated, "My little brother was born with a cardiac defect. At six months old, he underwent surgery at the Cardiothoracic Centre founded by Professor Frimpong-Boateng.

I was in Kindergarten at the time. I walked to the Ghana Commercial Bank and gave them my lunch money one day while my brother was in admissions. I wished to invest it in the Cardio Fund, which was advertised on television. I recall the cashiers pinching my cheekbones because they were so impressed. They were unaware of the trauma I was experiencing at the time.

Professor Frimpong-Boateng saved the life of my sibling.

If he needs me to represent him in this defamation suit brought against him by Gabby Othere-Darko, I will do so for gratis. Shalom.”

Mr. Richard Amarh, another Ghanaian attorney, has also expressed interest in assisting his colleague.

In response to the post, he stated, "If he calls and you need assistance, I will be there for free."
