Uhuru donates expensive car to poor MP who walked to Parliament

President Kenyatta on Friday, September 15, made good his promise to the 23-year-old Igembe South Member of Parliament John Paul Mwirigi, gifting him with a brand new car.

The President delivered the vehicle, a Toyota Prado, to the new Igembe South legislator following his unlikely triumph in the August 8 poll.

Uhuru had reportedly promised to hand the car-less Mwirigi who campaigned on a motorcycle, a brand new vehicle if he was confirmed winner in the Igembe South parliamentary race.

The university student made history becoming the youngest ever candidate to make it to Parliament at only 23 and broke as a church mouse.

Mwiringi received his first huge gift barely days after he was treated to an extreme makeover courtesy of the President’s personal stylist. He ditched his only sweater for sharp designer suits.

Zipo.co.ke has established that the brand new Prado valued is valued at KSh 3 million, a big boost considering the SRC terminated car grants to Members of Parliament.

Uhuru made the announcement on social media after handing the keys to Mwiringi at the Sagana State Lodge where he was meeting Central Kenya MPs. He also passed his congratulatory messages to the young politician.

“Delivered a car promise to young Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi at State Lodge, Sagana,” Uhuru Kenyatta said on Twitter and Facebook.

Mwiringi beat all odds to garner 76 percent of the votes, inheriting the Igembe South seat from Mithika Linturi who is now Meru Senator.
