We thank Ghanaians for the support and love shown to us - Atsu's elder sister Christian Atovu

Christian Atsu's elder sister Christiana Atovu has stated that the family appreciates everything that Ghanaians have done for them and they are set to meet to fix a date for the burial of the late winger. 

The body of Christian Atsu arrived in Ghana on Sunday evening 19th February it was met by the Vice Present, government officials, GFA, and the Twasam family at the Kotoka International Airport.

The Government of Ghana has assured the family that they are ready to support them when a date for the burial is fixed.

“Today I take this opportunity to thank Ghanaians for the support given to us. Yesterday the love they showed to us at the airport how they supported us. Also we thanked the President and government officials yesterday Vice was there everyone was there ministers were there," She told Dan Kwaku Yeboah.

"We thank all of you Ghanaians how they supported us with prayers that our brother will be found alive we have seen all. We thank you we thank you all,”

The Ghanaian winger had recently scored his first goal for Hatayaspor just hours before the natural disaster struck.

During his career, Atsu played 65 matches for Ghana, scoring nine goals. Two of his most famous goals came in the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Egypt and in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, quarter-finals clash against Guinea, where he scored an absolutely breathtaking goal.
