Ghanaian music fans are divided over who should be named Artiste of the Year at this year's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. The situation is becoming increasingly acrimonious.
On Saturday, May 6, 2023, stakeholders, industry players, and music enthusiasts will congregate at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) to hear the eagerly anticipated announcement.
Black Sherif, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Piesie Esther, Camidoh, KiDi, King Promise, and Joe Mettle are contending for the coveted Artiste of the Year title.

Four of the eight contenders have previously competed for Artist of the Year.

King Promise, Black Sherif, Camidoh, and Piesie Esther are attempting to win for the very first time.
Other categories include the Vodafone Most Popular Song, Afro Pop Song, Highlife Song, Hiplife Song, Gospel Song, and New Artist of the Year.
Since Charterhouse, the awards scheme's administrators, announced the nominees for VGMA24 on Saturday, March 18th, it has sparked incessant debates among various stakeholder groups.
