Work carefully and steer clear of wicked and shady strategies. - Oppong Nkrumah to Frimpong-Boateng

Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, a former minister of the environment, responded by advising Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, minister of information, to be wise and understand that power does not stay forever.

He was replying to the minister's denial that he had been mining illegally.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah refuted claims made in the 37-page report on illicit mining that he was behind a plot to assassinate Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, a former minister for science, environment, technology, and innovation.

He was charged of convening a covert gathering of journalists from the NPP and NDC on February 8, 2020, in Dodowa to discuss a plan to assassinate him. This allegedly resulted in subsequent unfavorable media coverage of him.

Oppong Nkrumah, however, characterized the assertions as being wholly untrue.

He claims that he never conducted any meetings to remove anyone from office and that he only ever went to a PRINPAG (Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana) session on financial reporting that was jointly organized with the Bank of Ghana.

"It simply escapes my comprehension how the former Minister transforms this occasion into a secret strategy conclave with his ruin as the objective. Reading this assertion from such an otherwise well regarded man will shock and sadden the participants from the Bank of Ghana and PRINPAG.

The minister of information expressed his disappointment in the person he held in the highest regard.

Additionally, he declared that he had pardoned the former minister and pleaded with him to stay out of his private disputes.

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, in response, recommended the Minister to complete his work properly and stay away from the bad and deceptive methods.

He also warned him that his current position of power would soon end, and he would see what it is like to be without it.

"Always keep in mind that political power is ephemeral and transient, is my counsel.

You may leave office in roughly two years and enter the real world like other formerly prominent political figures do.

Here is the whole statement:

OPPONG NKRUMAH'S REACTION TO FRIMPONG-BOATENG

Greetings, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah
having read your rebuttal to what I said in the report I sent the Chief of Staff a little more than two years ago concerning you.

It's understandable that you would dispute what I wrote. In your situation, very few people will take responsibility for their mistakes.

But I have some wise counsel for you. We were colleagues while I worked for the government, and I regarded you as such. like my son, I will now give you advice, just like I do for my kids. You share the same age as my fourth-born son, after all. You were my fourth child and only six years old when I started the cardiothoracic project after returning to Ghana from Germany. I won't mislead you, call you names, or treat you harshly.

Always keep in mind that political power is ephemeral and fleeting, is my counsel.

You might not be in office in around two years, at which point you might live in the same setting as former prominent political figures.

I'll admonish you to rigorously do your work and stay away from sneaky and malicious strategies.

On "Good Evening Ghana," Mr. Paul Adom Okyere boastfully and shamelessly revealed the methods you use to deal with both actual and imagined rivals.

Let me briefly discuss illicit mining.

Someone from your constituency emailed me a video of illegal mining operations in your hometown last week.

I'd like not to accept that what was mentioned regarding your involvement is accurate. The crucial fact is that Chinese miners are working with colleagues from Ghana to do illicit mining just outside your door.

I urge you to look into it and take the necessary steps.

The President of the Republic often tells Ghanaians that he is committed to fighting illegal mining.

As you are aware, unlawful mining includes the following as well as the lack of a concession or mining permits:

mining close to bodies of water

dumping waste into bodies of water

mining near bodies of water

use of toxic substances like cyanide and mercury

foreigners working in small-scale mining

Mined-out places are not being restored.

A wonderful day to you.
