Young Ghanaian artists who died abruptly at the height of their careers

Over the years, the Ghanaian creative art space has spawned and nurtured new talents; these talents develop to dominate the screen and perish in tragic incidents.

Young innovators

Months have passed and years have flown by, but the vacancies left by these creatives remain profound.

In remembrance of their significant contributions and artistry to the industry, the following list of deceased individuals is provided.


Suzzy Williams

Suzzy Williams, who passed away on September 8, 2005 at the age of 23, was a prominent Ghanaian television and film actor. She starred in a variety of films, including Bloody Mary, Calamity, The Comforter, and Mother's Heart.

Her acting career was initiated by the African hit film Together Forever, whose screenplay was written by Ghanaian producer and screenwriter Leila Djansi, who is based in the United States.

Williams attended Tema Secondary School, where she sang in entertainment programs and was a member of the drama club.

She perished at the age of 23 in a car accident on the Labadi - Nungua highway.

Her charismatic personality and acting abilities will eternally distinguish her as one of Ghana's greatest talents.

The Terry Bonchka

Terry Bonchaka, who was born Terrence Nii Okang Mensah Adjetey in 1982 and graduated from Adisadel College, is the grandson of Parliament speaker Peter Ala Adjetey.

He was a Ghanaian hiplife musician who perished in a car accident following a performance.

Ebony Rules

Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, born on 16 February 1997 and passing away on 8 February 2018, was a Ghanaian dancehall/Afrobeats artist known for her popular songs "Poison" and "Kupe"

She attended Seven Great Princess Academy in Dansoman, Accra, for her elementary education, and Methodist Girls High School in Mamfe, Akuapim North District, Eastern Region, Ghana, for her secondary education, although she did not graduate.

She left high school to pursue a vocation in music.

Ebony Reigns was killed instantaneously in a car accident on February 8, 2018, while returning to Accra from Sunyani after visiting her mother.

Franklin Yaa Nkansah Kuri, her assistant and longstanding friend, and Atsu Vondee, a soldier, were also killed in the fatal accident.

Her unexpected death devastated the majority of Ghanaians.

Mustapha Rahman, professionally known as Rudebwoy Ranking, passed away on April 24 at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.

Previously managed by Bullgod, he has released tunes such as "Jah Over Dem," "No Drama," "Yaro," "Level Up," and "My Time," among others.

The cause of his untimely death, which occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, remains unexplained.

Their music and influence will endure forever.
