Just In: Christian Atsu Found Alive, Taken To Hospital

Ghanaian and Hatayspor footballer, Christian Atsu has been found alive following reports that he was trapped after an earthquake in Turkey.

The 31-year-old was caught up in the 7.7 magnitude earthquake on Monday February, 6, 2023.

Atsu has now been rescued from the rubble and has been transported to hospital after suffering injuries to his right foot and breathing difficulties.

A post sighted on the social media handle of sports broadcaster, Sadick Adams, has confirmed news of the rescue.

"I’m still in contact with Christian Atsu’s management. A teammate of Atsu has confirmed to them, the player has been found and taken to the hospital. But they expect an official statement from his club soon. Prayers still with him and everyone. Trust God he is safe", the post read.

Hatayspor, Atsu’s current club, is located in the Turkish city of the Hatay, which is believed to be one of the areas worst affected by the incident.

As well as Atsu, it has been reported that the club’s sporting director Taner Savut and an interpreter were also trapped following the earthquake.

Our prayers and thoughts are with everybody in Turkey.
