Around 2,500 naked volunteers posed at Australia 's Bondi Beach in the early morning light to constitute an artwork designed to raise awareness about skin cancer. The artwork was American photographer Spencer Tunick 's latest project, which was aimed to encourage Australians to get their skin checked at regular intervals.
"We have an opportunity to raise awareness about skin checks and I'm honoured... to come here, make my art and just celebrate the body and protection," Tunick told Reuters. Volunteers started gathering on the beach at 3:30 local time to take part in the artwork.
The installation was done in collaboration with the charity Skin Check Champions during skin cancer awareness week.
Notably, according to the World Cancer Research Fund , Australia is the worst affected by skin cancer in the world, reported BBC.
