Bawku: REGSEC ban use of motorbikes in Bawku municipality after alleged Shot out resulting to the death of an officer

The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has banned the use of motorbikes in the Bawku municipality in the Upper East Region after a shot out on Sunday.

The new restriction comes a day after an alleged shot out incident that broke bout in the municipality resulting to the killing of 7 involving a police officer

According to the RESEC, the deteriorating insecurity situation in the area necessitated the ban.

In a statement, the REGSEC said tricycles popularly Known as Mahama Can do, which are a popular means of transport in most parts of the Upper East Region, have, however, been exempted.

The RESEC has directed the Bawku Municipal Security Council to enforce the ban immediately.
