Edward Bawa refute claims of intention to go independent in the 2024 election

Edward Abambire Bawa, the outgoing Member of Parliament for Bongo constituency, has denied allegations suggesting his intention to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 election. These claims arose following his appreciation tour of the constituency, where he expressed gratitude for their support during his 8-year tenure as the MP.

During an interview with Akundaare Paul Awinbisa, the NDC Lawmaker affirmed his commitment to the NDC party and his readiness to contribute collaboratively to ensure the success of the chosen parliamentary candidate and the party within the district.

Bawa emphasized his continual appreciation for the constituency's backing, recognizing the 509 electorates who voted in his favor. He urged both the party and the residents of Bongo to dismiss opposition-driven claims and rally behind the parliamentary candidate and John Dramani Mahama, unitedly carrying forward their positive efforts in the district.

In the NDC primaries held in May 2023, Lawyer Bawa Dua secured victory over Edward Bawa, garnering 535 votes compared to Bawa's 509 votes.
