GEM Ghana and Partners Provide Essential Supplies and Medical Screening to Female Inmates at Tamale Central Prisons

On August 10th, 2023, Girls Empowerment Mission Ghana (GEM Ghana) collaborated with HIVE, Youth Entrepreneurship Advocacy For Africa Development (YEAFAD), My Hereafter Project, and Whizzkids United Carlos Guerra Academy to provide donations of Sanitary Pads, Toilet Rolls, and gallons of Liquid Soap to Female Inmates at the Tamale Central Prisons in Ghana's Northern Region. Alongside this, the team conducted medical screenings for both the inmates and Senior Female Prison Officers.

Nurses from Whizzkids United Carlos Guerra Academy in Tamale were responsible for conducting the medical screenings for the inmates and Senior Female Prison Officers.

Superintendent Doris Ameku, the Prison Officer In-Charge of Female Inmates at the Tamale Central Prisons, expressed gratitude to GEM Ghana and its partners for their impactful visit.

Ms. Faiza Ahmed, a nurse at Whizzkids United, conveyed her happiness about the collaboration and its contribution to the project. She also expressed a strong desire to continue positively impacting the lives of vulnerable groups, particularly girls and women.

Ms. Samira Assabey Musah, the Executive Director of Girls Empowerment Mission Ghana (GEM Ghana), extended her appreciation to the partnering organizations – HIVE, YEAFAD, My Hereafter Project, and Whizzkids United Carlos Guerra Academy – for their instrumental role in making the visit a success and a memorable experience.

Taking the opportunity, Ms. Samira called upon individuals and organizations to join forces with GEM Ghana in their mission to touch the lives of more people, specifically focusing on girls and women.
