Police Apprehend Three Juveniles For Allegedly Sodomising Pupils At An Islamic School

Over 5 boys have been sodomized by senior boys at a Muslim school in Chongwe, Zambia.

The boys who are in grades 4 and 5 have revealed that the act has been going on for the past two years they have been at the school.

It is believed that an elderly Indian man who was residing on the school premises was sodomizing some older boys who learned the act and started doing it on the younger pupils.

The victims and the perpetrators are currently being questioned by police in Lusaka.

Police in Lusaka has apprehended three juveniles for allegedly sodomizing fellow pupils at an Islamic school.

In a statement, police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the suspects are alleged to have sodomised five fellows pupils aged 11 and 12.

“Chelston Police Station at 11:00 hours received a report of Unnatural Offence (Sodomy) Contrary to Section 155 of the Penal Code Act Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia from Kassim Tembo age 40 a Religious teacher at Islamic Education Trust of Zambia School (Daruloom) residing at plot number 34 Islamic School.



He reported on behalf of five male pupils alleged to have been sexually abused by three fellow older male pupils,” he said.

Mr Hamoonga said the incident is alleged to have occurred between February 2020 and September 2022 at the Islamic Education Trust of Zambia Lusaka.

He said one of the victims is aged 11 and the other four are all aged 12 whilst the three accused persons are all said to be aged 16.

Mr Hamoonga said police have instituted investigations to ascertain their actual ages.

“Brief facts of the matter are that one of the victims who is aged 11 called his mother to report the matter to the police. The mother together with the school authorities reported the matter at Chelston Police Station. Upon being interviewed he disclosed that he was not the only victim. He then mentioned the other four victims who also confirmed the incident,” he said.

Mr Hamoonga said Medical report forms have been issued to all five victims.

He said dockets of cases have been opened and the three accused have been apprehended.
