Police Arrest Man Flogging Toddler In Viral Video

The Police have arrested the man who was seen flogging a toddler in a viral video.
Richard Kofi believed to be the father of the boy was arrested on Wednesday afternoon at Akaa Buem in Jasikan in the Oti Region.

A report by the Fourth Estate said the wife of the suspect was also arrested by the police.
About two days ago, a video of a man flogging a child believed to be about three years old began to circulate on social media.

The toddler could be seen and heard hopelessly sobbing in the video, but it is unknown what may have prompted the father to commit such an act.
The video was widely shared and caught the police’s notice after being stumbled upon.

In response to the video, the police stated that “efforts are underway to track down the involved guy, get him arrested, and rescue the youngster.”

In addition, the police had offered a reward of $2000 to anyone with information that could result in the capture of the male adult who had committed the crime.

Child Rights International, a non-governmental organization, condemned the beating and offered a 10,000 reward for the man’s capture.
The youngster has been saved in the meanwhile. His parents were detained, and the authorities have taken custody of him.

However, gospel singer Sonnie Badu has demanded the detention of the second witness to the suspect’s abuse of the youngster.
